In Parliament last week I met with Matt Boden, Royal Mail’s Regional Operations Director (right), and Michael Hogg, the Senior Public Affairs Manager (left), to discuss the postal delays we’ve recently been experiencing.
I met with them following my request for views from local residents, and then raising the issue in Parliament with the Post Minister, Justin Madders. He wrote to me recently in response outlining some of the recruitment challenges Royal Mail is experiencing.
The recent operational changes that have been made to routes, coupled with retention challenges regarding new postal workers and the new contract have meant that there have been delays. Matt has assured me that these changes would take time to bed in and that we should expect to see improvements as we head into the summer.
I will continue to monitor the situation and liaise with Matt and Michael to understand when delivery times have returned to normal.
