This week is Baby Loss Awareness week, which takes place every year from 9th-15th October.
The aim is to support bereaved parents and families and to unite with others across the world to commemorate their babies’ lives and lost pregnancies. It’s also to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby loss and to drive improvements in care and support for anyone affected and in the prevention of pregnancy and baby loss.
This year is the second year that Baby Loss Awareness week has been remembered in St Ives, thanks to the efforts of St Ives Town Councillor Laura Thompson and St Ives Baby Loss Support & Awareness .
The Ribbon Memorial display (pictured) will be located on the railings outside St Ives Methodist Church, where local people are welcome to place a ribbon and remember those they’ve lost.
St Ives bridge will be lit in Pink and Blue each evening throughout the week.
St Ives Methodist Church will also hold a Wave of Light Memorial Service at 6pm on Sunday 12th October. It will be a chance to remember and reflect.
Thank you to Laura for all her efforts in organising the week and ensuring that families in St Ives have a place to remember.
