I recently hosted Damien, Kelly and James from The Malcolm Whales Foundation to discuss the charity’s plans to create a cancer patient support centre in Huntingdon, within easy reach of Hinchingbrooke Hospital and the bus and railway stations.
You may recall that earlier in the year I visited Malcolm’s Retreat, the charity’s cancer respite lakeside cabin at Rookery Waters.
The centre would provide a base for local organisations and charities to deliver counselling, rehabilitation, and support services free of charge. This is a facility that the charity believe is much needed locally and they hope to create a project that brings together education, public service, and charitable impact.
Outpatient and social care support facilities are in short supply and it is fantastic to see such a positive initiative proposed.
The charity are hoping to identify a suitable location for the centre and are happy to hear of potential sites. Feel free to comment below with any suggestions.
