This week I visited Fitness Rush in Old Hurst.
Liam took the time to show me around his fitness studio, and share the work he’s doing to support individuals and communities through inclusive health and fitness initiatives.
Over the past three years Fitness Rush has supported 50 individuals on probation through exercise initiatives, fitness qualifications or both; five of whom are now in full-time employment.
This has been a key aspect delivering accredited fitness qualifications to long-term unemployed, people on probation, and other underserved communities.
Alongside this Liam also showed me round his new mobile fitness centre. This is the second such van he has fitted out, the first being gym equipment only, and this one having a rehabilitation suite. The aim is to allow those who cannot get to a gym, such as the over-65s or those in care homes and those with disabilities, to have the opportunity to use fitness equipment, gain confidence and experience and stay active.
This is a fantastic idea and one I was surprised to find doesn’t already exist. Liam is already operating across Cambridgeshire and hopes to reach even more communities.
It was great to hear Liam and Catherine’s motivational personal journeys and the challenges they’ve overcome to realise their ambitions and create such an inventive and original fitness solution.
