Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with Newlands Developments in order to discuss the proposed Hinchingbrooke Logistics Park.
For those unaware, the Logistics park is planned to be located on the farmland adjacent to Huntingdon Racecourse to its northeast, next to the A141. It will create nearly 2,000 local jobs and may be operational by mid-2027.
Newlands are currently engaged in the consultation process and have met with parish councils local to the site as well as local groups such as the Friends of Hinchingbrooke Park.
Having received lots of correspondence highlighting local concerns I have relayed these to Newlands, amongst which were the visual impact as well as concerns regarding traffic and the cumulative effect of the Logistics Park, the Bloor Homes development at “Lower Stukeley” and potentially Brampton Cross. Having seen the plans there will be a new roundabout linking the existing Hinchingbrooke Business Park and the Logistics Park as well as significant landscaping to screen the Logistics Park from view as well as creating pedestrian/cycle access from Hinchingbrooke. I have also recommended that bus routes should be looked at, which would be vital to site access for employees.
I will continue to monitor the application process and relay concerns from constituents. The development could have huge potential if done properly but any build must be sympathetic to the current environment and be an overall benefit to local people.
