Really enjoyed addressing Huntingdonshire Neighbourhood Watch Association (HNWA) AGM yesterday.
Hugely interesting to hear from Inspector Colin Norden, Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Huntingdonshire, Cllr Jo Harvey and from Robin Sutton, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Cambridgshire Neighbourhood Watch Association (CNWA).
Neighbourhood Watch is changing to meet the way crime happens today and will shortly launch their new campaign to tackle crimes like digital fraud. It’s no longer the neighbourhood watch that we remember with ‘twitching curtains’. The threats, particularly vulnerable, people face today need to be addressed.
I’ve also consistently held the Government to account regarding their neighbourhood policing guarantee and the allocation of funding to Cambridgeshire Constabulary. Our police force does a fantastic job in keeping crime lower here than in other parts of the county.
My thanks to Jo for inviting me to address the AGM, and I look forward to supporting their plans and efforts.
