Last week I visited Marshalls St Ives Works to find out more about their business operations and address some of the challenges they face from flooding from the River Great Ouse.
Marshalls were directly impacted by the flooding we saw in Autumn last year which led to a significant proportion of the works, and their stocks, to be underwater. I will relay this to the Environment Agency who must repair the St Ives and Brownshill staunches that would help to alleviate excess water levels during high levels of rainfall.
It was fascinating to understand better the concrete manufacturing process and see the scale of the operations in St Ives. With high levels of automation the process is far more technical than you may expect. There are job vacancies at the site at present.
My thanks to Adam Leach (Group Property Director) and Briston Spencer (Site Operations Manager), for the tour of the site and showcasing Marshalls operations. My thanks too to Mathew Setchell from St Ives Flood Action Group for his input into highlighting the flooding issues.
