Remembrance Sunday is always a moving occasion, as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today.
For me personally it is always a time to remember those I served alongside in Afghanistan with the 3RIFLES Battlegroup who never made it home, as well as those who will live with the injuries they suffered for the rest of their lives.
The service in Huntingdon this morning was hugely well attended with our armed forces, particularly those from RAF Wyton, civic organisations and veterans fantastically represented.
It was an enormous privilege to be able to lay a wreath on behalf of Parliament today.
My thanks to all those who worked hard to bring the event together, who were part of the parade, laid a wreath or simply came to pay their respects.
I know too that the USAF would have been present today were it not for the ongoing US Federal Government shutdown.
Thank you for continuing to remember the service and sacrifice of our armed forces, and Huntingdon’s long legacy of support for our military.
