The Government has this morning announced that the proposed Fens Reservoir at Chatteris will be fast-tracked via designation as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project.
The reservoir is currently scheduled for completion by 2036 and whilst the reservoir itself is located in the neighbouring constituency, the sheer scale of the project will mean significant construction works and likely vastly increased construction traffic as well as any additional connection infrastructure required within the Huntingdon constituency.
I will be reaching out to Anglian Water to find out the timeline of the project and when construction work will start, as well as seeking further clarity from the Secretary of State Steve Reed and the Flooding Minister Emma Hardy. I will also liaise with Steve Barclay MP and our new Mayor Paul Bristow to be kept in the loop of developments.
