Earlier this week I had the opportunity to visit Paragraf, the most important company you’ve never heard of and met with the company’s CEO, Simon Thomas.
Paragraf, based on two sites in Huntingdon and Somersham, is an electronics company specialising in the ‘wonder material’ graphene.
Paragraf is the first company in the world to mass produce graphene-based electronic devices using standard semiconductor processes. They are the only company in the world able to produce this technology and as such are not only world-leading, but a true local, and British, success story, having been founded by Simon at Cambridge University and then successfully spun out to the company as it exists today.
With plans to quickly grow on its current Huntingdon site Paragraf is a fantastic example of the type of companies that can be thrive in Huntingdon and benefit from a location close to Cambridge, creating highly-skilled jobs and potential careers for those leaving education and starting work.
I will be writing to the Department for Science Innovation and Technology to ask Paragraf to be included within their Select Committee Innovation Showcase.
My thanks to Simon and the team in giving me such a detailed insight into the company and its work.
