This weekend I had the opportunity to attend this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo.
The annual event is an incredible showcase for air power and is an opportunity to see some of the capability we and our NATO allies possess first-hand, as well as the direction of travel for new technology, including drones.
With the forthcoming expansion oF RAF Wyton and my proposal to develop a Defence Technology Cluster on the former airfield, I had the chance to speak to both senior RAF Officers in attendance and defence industry leaders about the plans.
You may have seen that in the past couple of weeks in Parliament I have managed to confirm support from the Prime Minister with regards to the proposed plans for the Defence Technology Cluster, as well as this week tasking the Energy Minister to assess the suitability of the existing energy infrastructure on the site.
Clearly a project of this scale will take time, but I am committed to not only ensuring its delivery, but also making sure that stakeholders are engaged and local people are informed of the progress of what promises to be an exciting new opportunity for Huntingdon.
