On Friday I spent the day out on patrol with Cambridgeshire Police’s Rural Crime Action Team.
The team operate across Cambridgeshire, tackling rural crime such as Farm Equipment theft, Wildlife crime and Environmental crime as well as tackling organised crime like hare coursing. They also provide the police’s drone capability.
It was hugely informative to spend the day on patrol with Tom and Scott, seeing them at work across our rural communities as well as having the opportunity to understand the resource challenges we face here in Cambridgeshire.
Our Rural Crime Action Team has been a huge success and has been used as the blueprint across other teams in police forces in the region. I’ve previously highlighted the work they do in Parliament and will continue to push for better resourcing so that the team can expand and provide even more coverage and reassurance to our rural communities.
