Improving our transport infrastructure

Across Huntingdonshire we have seen a huge number of newly built homes, commercial and industrial units, with further developments planned. As your MP I will work to ensure that we upgrade our road infrastructure to meet the increasing level of traffic.

We have already seen significant upgrades to our major roads with the upgraded A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon, but the junctions to access the A14 from nearby villages west of Huntingdon continues to be an issue, with several accidents and near misses; the dangerous junctions that cross the A14 desperately need to be made safe. We have also seen the impact of increasing numbers of cars on local roads East of St. Ives with the constant traffic approaching Harrison Way roundabout. With further developments planned in Needingworth and Somersham this traffic, and that crossing the Great Ouse out of the constituency beyond Earith, will only worsen without seeking solutions to the issue.

I will also push for an overhaul of our bus routes to better integrate our towns with our villages and new developments as rural services have not improved despite Labour Mayor Nik Johnson trebling the bus precept.
