Following the news that Kimbolton Community Fire Station is one of three locally set to be closed by 2025, this weekend I visited the station with Cllr Ian Gardener and spoke to some of the firefighters impacted by the proposed plans.
There are significant concerns from residents and firefighters alike that the proposed plans to increase service in St.Neots to 7-days-a-week, at the expense of any service in Kimbolton, will leave many of the surrounding homes and villages without adequate fire and rescue coverage.
With the public meeting scheduled for the 20th December it's crucial that the Fire Authority is able to address these concerns and reassure local residents that there is a solution that doesn't compromise on local coverage.
